This is an uprated front anti roll bar (ARB) for all models of the BMW E46 except the M3.
If your looking for a road going handling upgrade and don’t want the expense or harshness of coilovers then upgrading the ARB’s is the perfect solution. Uprating the ARB’s means that the car will corner flatter, and therefore faster and with more predictability, but if you hit an uneven patch of road you will not get the feedback through the chassis in way coilovers do.
For those who are drifting or using the E46 on track and have coilovers fitted this is still a very worthwhile upgrade. Once fitted the ARB’s will do the work of keeping the car flat and this means the coilovers can concentrate on their main job of keeping the maximum amount of tyre on the tarmac.
Changing just the front or rear ARB can also allow you to change the handling characteristics stiffer ARB on the front will likely result in the car understeering at the limit of grip and if you just change the rear then you are likely to experience oversteer. Many drifters will only change the rear ARB.
The average factory E46 ARB is about 22.5mm and this upgraded one is 25mm this might not sound like much but when we look at cross sectional area the OEM one is – 398mm and ours is 491mm which is just over 20% larger.
We have also added 2 holes at either end where the droplinks mount which allows you to fine tune the bar, see the images for more details on this.
The standard D bushes and droplinks can be used with this bar although it is recommended to change them to the poly type at the same time for the best improvements.
