Mazda MX5 Mk1 1.6/1.8 Turbo Intercooler Kit, FMIC

This is a front mount intercooler kit for the Mk1 MX5 with either the 1.6 or 1.8 engine.

The mounts supplied bolt to existing points on the car so no drilling is required but you will need to remove the AC condensor.

Originally designed to fit with our turbo kit that uses the garrett turbo it is likely that this will need to be adapted slightly to fit to the location of your turbo. The rest of the kit will bolt straight up.

The aluminium 2.5″ charge pipe between the intercooler and the throttle body has a flange already welded to it that takes the 50mm TIAL type BOV and a boss for a 3/8 NPT temp sensor which is used by most aftermarket ECU’s.

This kit was not designed to be used with the standard engine management and if you try to use the standard management on the 1.6 you will experience problems with idling.

The intercooler is rated to over 300 BHP but not massive to keep down the turbo lag, all hoses are supplied with T-bolt clamps to suit and the kit includes the bolts required to mount the intercooler to the brackets and the brackets to the car.
